Social media, trojan mice and history
Trying to introduce social media into your company? What could you be up against from management? Jim McGee in FastForward, describes wonderfully how 'management' is traditionally adverse to sweeping changes. I summarise his argument with the help of Depair Inc.
One way around this, points out Jim, is taking small steps. That is, deploy trojan mice like using a wiki in a project; set up a feed-reader to look for mentions of your company; join relevant social networking groups; start your own blog; find like-minded colleagues and rally together.
In some situations, a bigger bang might be more appropriate but, either way, we appear to be up against history!
